Medicaid

Medicaid is a medical assistance program that helps many Georgians who can’t afford medical care pay for some or all of their medical bills.

You can start an application for Georgia Medicaid through Georgia Gateway, the state government’s web portal for accessing assistance programs. When you create an account, you can apply for or renew benefits, upload documents, and report changes to your case — all at no cost.

You may be eligible for Medicaid if your income is low and you:

  • Think you are pregnant
  • Are the age of 18 or younger (and not already covered by PeachCare for Kids®)
  • Are legally blind
  • Have a disability
  • Need assisted living (such as nursing home care)
  • Are age 65 or older

You can apply for Medicaid on Georgia Gateway. To apply by phone, call the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) at 877-423-4746.

If you are currently enrolled in Medicaid or PeachCare for Kids, check your eligibility on Georgia Gateway or visit StayCovered.ga.gov to learn more.
