Change Plan or Cancel Coverage

If your health insurance coverage no longer fits your needs, if you were offered a new plan from your employer, or if you experience a change in life circumstance, you may be eligible to change or cancel your coverage on Georgia Access. For additional details on whether you can modify your coverage outside of Open Enrollment, learn more about Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs).

When can I change my plan?

You can change your plan for the upcoming year during the Open Enrollment (OE) period. If you enroll in a plan during OE and decide that it does not fit your needs, you can change your plan before OE ends. You may be eligible to change plans mid-year during a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE).

When can I cancel my health insurance coverage?

You can cancel your coverage at any time during the year.

To cancel, update your application and enrollment information on Georgia Access, or contact your certified agent, web broker, or insurance company.

You may want to cancel your coverage if you get health insurance from your job or if you qualify for another government program, like Medicaid or Veterans Affairs.

Need to report a change?

If your address, job, or family size changes, you should tell us as soon as possible. This helps make sure you have the right health coverage and pay the correct amount. Reporting changes quickly can help you avoid losing coverage or having surprise costs.

If your Open Enrollment has ended, you might still qualify for coverage.
